Chef Gordons Chicken Alfredo
Chicken Alfredo: Creamy and indulgent, this dish pairs tender chicken with a rich Alfredo sauce.
Recipe: Creamy Chicken Alfredo
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
– 12 ounces (340g) fettuccine pasta
– 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
– Salt and black pepper, to taste
– 2 tablespoons olive oil
– 4 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
– 1 cup (100g) grated Parmesan cheese
– 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter
– Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Chicken:
– Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chicken breasts and cook until they are browned and no longer pink in the center, about 6-8 minutes per side. Remove the chicken from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice the chicken into thin strips.
2. Cook the Pasta:
– While the chicken is resting, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
3. Make the Alfredo Sauce:
– In the same skillet used for the chicken, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned. Pour in the heavy cream and bring it to a gentle simmer.
4. Add Parmesan Cheese:
– Reduce the heat to low and whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese. Continue to whisk until the cheese has fully melted and the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes. Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.
5. Combine Chicken and Pasta:
– Return the sliced chicken to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce. Toss to combine, allowing the chicken to heat through.
6. Serve and Garnish:
– Serve the creamy chicken Alfredo over the cooked fettuccine pasta. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor.
Cooking Tips:
– Don’t overcook the chicken: Cook the chicken breasts until they are just cooked through. Overcooking can make them dry.
– Use freshly grated Parmesan: Freshly grated Parmesan cheese has better flavor and melts more smoothly into the sauce.
Serving Suggestions:
– Serve your creamy chicken Alfredo with a side of garlic bread or a Caesar salad for a complete meal.
– Pair it with a white wine like Chardonnay or a crisp Pinot Grigio to complement the richness of the dish.
